Don't you just love to find a good farmers market? I do. I have been back in Kansas about three months now, and I had no idea that the largest farmers market in Kansas is a few blocks from where I now live in Overland Park. Open every Saturday from 6:30 a.m. till sellout and Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. till sellout, the Downtown Overland Park Farmers Market on Marty between 79th and 80th "is a thriving open air market offering produce, flowers, specialty foods and entertainment for the entire family," according to the Historic Downtown Overland Park website.
Boil chicken in water for about 5-10 minutes so it makes peeling the skin and stripping the meat off the bone easier. After stripping the lamb curry and couscous don't be tempted to eat the chicken yet because it wouldn't be cooked all the way through at this point. If you do so, you risk the chance of getting sick. Put 2 cups of water in a pan, add curry powder, and throw your chicken strips into the mix. When the mix starts to rumble boil lower the heat and cover. While your chicken is boiling, you can use this time to cut up your veggies if you haven't done so yet. Now, throw the potatoes in the pan first. Potatoes tend to cook slower than the rest of your veggies so let this cook for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes you can throw in the rest of your veggies and spices.
Thai eggplants look more like golf balls than eggplants, green or white in color. Thai eggplants have a sweet flavor and thin skin. Use Thai eggplants when cooking curry dishes. Leave the peel on, quarter and use in your favorite lamb curry.
Fried curried lamb and rice can be prepared in lots of ways..You can include any vegetable/ingredient based on your preference and accessibility..I love the many colurs of the veggies in the almond..This can be well prepared if you have leftover rice..It's very simple to get ready..It took less than 20 minutes for me to get ready this..
Both Len and I only ate about half of our curries and hardly made a dent in the bread. It was really delicious and we knew that this hadn't come out slow cooker lamb curry of a packet.
What you get - Run by a true blue Malaysian, this restaurant offers you authentic Malaysian food and the owner is not high-nosed either. You will find him serving at some table or the other. The staff offers you a wet towel as soon as you are seated and that can be a refreshing thing to use. But once they hand over the leather bound menu, it is sure to read like Greek and Latin to most. So, like we did, you could take help from the captain or the person taking your orders.
In the temple! Heat the butter in a small skillet and add curry leaves and mustard seeds. When the seeds begin to appear, add the chopped shallot and cook until translucent and lightly browned.
